On Monday, my aunt wanted to hit up the Museum of Flight and have my daughter, brother and I ride the simulators (she's ridden one before and insisted that we do it because she had a blast). We rode them, my kid and brother went first and flew the A-10 (brother was pilot, kiddo was gunner). They ended their 4 minute session by racking up 12 kills against ground targets. Brother and I went (I flew, he shot) and rocked an F-15. We took out 14 Mig 21s (Spent lots of time upside down in that thing!). Anyway, we decided to hit up Renton Municipal as we saw the KIRO 7 chopper land and ended up seeing a DeHavilland Beaver float plane taxi up to the dock and drop off some passengers. Well these two were there as well.
No video as the Beaver took off right away, but here's a video I found on YouTube of a car version so you can see how it works.

Weird! But what's the purpose of chopping them in half? I'm assuming they're 4x4s with just the front shaft coming off the t-case?

More maneuverable than a truck & trailer setup, and having the platform come off the front rather than the back makes it easier for the driver to see to get the platform lined up under the plane without hitting the floats.

I love the MoF. Spent a ton of time there as a kid. I've been all over that museum.
